Hello Hello Hello! It's been awhile! I just got back from Mexico and I am feeling relaxed, energized, and excited to get back to work! Right before I left for my vacation I finished up a new logo for a fellow blogger who is rebranding herself. This is the inspiration board that is setting the mood for the whole project. Now that we have the logo nailed down, I'm in the process of developing the new blog interface! So excited to share with you all this project, it will without a doubt put a smile on your face! :-)
I finally wrapped up this blog re-design for Shahidah from The Life and Times of a Social Butterfly. Shahidah is such a kind person, and I thoroughly enjoyed working with her every step of the way. Back in May I shared with you all the inspiration board that set the mood for this new design. She wanted something that spoke to her personality and had a passion for details. So we set out to design something feminine but yet still have that stylish edge.
Shahidah blogs about all things fashion, life and makeup. You should definitely hop on over and say hello. I know she would love to have you! :-)
April flew by in the blink of an eye! I have to say, the little down time I have been taking has been doing wonders on my happiness, health and drive! I feel like I am more myself, and the stress levels have come down quite a bit, just by making time for myself!
The past month, I have worked on:
+ Going to the gym at minimum 3x a week - 2x a week with my bestie Dawn
+ Trying something new - I dyed my hair ombre and I freakin LOVE it
+ Improving my relationship with my boyfriend - Communication is key
+ Planning excursions - Sundays are the day to explore
+ Saying "no" - Becoming more selective when it comes to design work and not over booking myself
+ Developing my new "look" for Hello Monday - finally heading into the right direction
+ A new blog re-design for a fellow blogger - So excited and so close to the revealing
+ Reading before bed - I just ordered the Happy Project and cannot wait to dig in
+ Eating clean and healthy - goodbye wheat!
+ Making new connections - Surrounding myself with positive go-getters
What did you accomplish and work on within the past month?
Soft, Feminine, Romantic, Clean, Sophisticated, Natural and Organic. Hello Monday is getting a makeover! It's always so hard to design for yourself, but I've been treating myself like I would a client. Asking myself the important questions, writing ideas down on paper, brainstorming, and developing mood boards! I'm finally on the right path, and developing the brand I have always imagined. I hope you'll stick around... I will be posting my progress and sneak peaks along the way! :-)
Spring is finally here! Although it is still a bit chilly, my hometown city of Buffalo has officially said goodbye to winter by lifting out the ice boom out of the mouth of the Niagara River. Every year at this time (for the past 11 years) many people come together to celebrate. This is the second year that Boom Days has been held at the historic grain elevators, also known as Silo City. They have food trucks, poetry readings, live music, site tours and fireworks. I have never gone to one of these events, and either has my good friend Dawn, so we grabbed our men and went exploring! :-)
Walking around this historic site provoked many different emotions, it was exciting but at the same time so eerie. This part of Buffalo has been left vacant but back in the early 1900's Buffalo was a booming industrial city and one of the largest grain-milling centers in the country. It's sad to think that everything we once were, we're not anymore. There is hope though! This city is trying so hard to bring jobs back, transform our waterfront and to use the existing historic sites for future business' and recreation. At Silo City there are even plans to transform this site into a rocking climbing center!
It was such a fun night exploring, and although Buffalo usually gets a bad wrap for being the city of snow and lack of jobs, I love it. When I was younger, I always said I wanted to move, but as I get older, I love this city more and more. Theres so much history, architecture, art, food and potential here! Check out the video below... this is my city! :-)
